Regulate Your Circadian Rhythm & Sleep Better With Light

Regulate Your Circadian Rhythm & Sleep Better With Light

Did you know that the right lighting at the right time can help improve your mood, productivity, and sleep? It can also make you more alert and even improve mood. That’s because light is the primary way your biological clock synchronizes to daytime.

Why Light Is Important

The biological clock and its relationship to light is so important because it regulates your circadian rhythms. If you haven’t heard of circadian rhythms, they basically run the show in your body. They regulate things like body temperature and the cycling of many hormones, including melatonin, which helps you get a good night's sleep.

That’s why when we aren’t exposed enough of the right kind of light, we can have trouble sleeping, experience fatigue, carbohydrate cravings, decreased alertness, and feel down.

For many people the shorter days of autumn, particularly after daylight savings time, bring on these undesirable symptoms of light deprivation. But even during the sunny months, your circadian rhythm may be off if you're working indoors or just not getting enough bright light in the morning. So, what can we do to prevent the effects of not getting enough bright light?

How Bright Light Therapy Helps

Bright light therapy has been shown to reset your circadian rhythm to its natural state and help improve sleep, mood, energy & focus.  Using a HappyLight early in the day can help your body adjust to darker days or time spent indoors.

It’s easy to add in beneficial light to get a good night's sleep as well as regain your energy, focus and mood. Just use your HappyLight at your desk while you work, on a side table while your read or do crafts, and even next to your treadmill when you work out.
